This painterly photomontage also uses the photograph from the summer of 2019, of the “Sphere within a Sphere” sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro outside the United Nations in New York, along with a photograph of some buildings in West Midtown in Manhattan with textures and digital painting for another view of the zeitgeist of 2020.

Exploring the relationship between seeing, perception, memory, feelings, and thoughts through pictures has been my enduring fascination. Mastering manual photographic techniques using a variety of cameras from 35mm to 4x5, and experimenting with shooting out-of-date film and cross-processing film, naturally evolved into digitally creating painterly photomontages--endless imaginary worlds drawn from the tapestry of everyday reality. In addition to being a freelance photographer for various publications, I was a photo editor at The New York Times for ten years and a gallery photo editor at the Daily News in New York.
